5 Things I've learned from my first 100 Twitter followers
Being part of the digital age, most of my generation's human-to-human interaction is through some form of social media - whether it be a facebook message, email, text, BBM, etc.. this is what we know, and how we do things now. Like most people in my generation - I have a Facebook page that I refresh almost religiously, and I spend a lot of downtime browsing the internet and various social media platforms.
I first signed on to twitter about a year or so ago and only used my account to browse through some of my favourite celebrities tweets. I tweeted a couple times, gained a few followers, but never made it much further than that because I didn't really understand how it worked, and wasn't interested in learning about it. However, just over a month ago I created a new handle {@julesinfleurs} and have quickly become addicted to the popular social media powerhouse. On friday, I reached my first milestone of 100 twitter followers and decided to make a list of things that I have noticed or learned during this period. I am by no means an expert at twitter or anything else related to social media or online presence, but I think that is part of the beauty of the platform: expert and beginner alike, anyone can tweet, and that's all it takes.
- Interaction: {Makes everything much more interesting and fun - Isnt that the whole point anyways? Interacting with others will get you noticed by others. Plus, If you talk to me, I will probably check out your page/whatever it is you do.}
- Photos: {Because they are more personal, and some things just cannot fit into 140 characters. Plus, it doesn't help being addicted to instagram! (follow me on instagram @joobsy)}
- Hashtags: {The almighty #hash tag.. I see people hash emotions, feelings, etc.. #Awesome, #lame, that sort of thing - which makes sense. I also see tags for events or TV #GG, #PLL, #SMWTO - which also makes sense because it adds to that events timeline. Theres the commonly used hashtags like #firstworldpains or #WhiteGirlProblems that are witty and fun. But - I dont find a reason to #hash #words #within a #sentence like #this. Those kind of tags don't make sense to me & probably never will, but hey - to each their own. #Hash tags away!}
- Tweet like you have a purpose: {Own your tweets, and tweet like you have been tweeting for years. If you play the part, you will become the part. No one likes a dishrag, and they probably wouldnt like ones tweets either.. so tweet with enthusiasm. #CaptainOfShip}
- Don't be shy, have fun! {There comes a time when you have to ask yourself if you actually enjoy what you are doing or if you are doing it.. just because. Same thing goes for twitter. If you dont enjoy tweeting - it will be obvious in your tweets (see #4). If you are boring and dull, no one will want to read what you have to say. That being said, if twitter is not something you enjoy, dont force it. Take a break and try something else, maybe in the future you will come around and restart on twitter like I did #FeelsGoodMan. Its also important not to let the start of something finish you. Dont be intimidated by other people on twitter, talk to them anyways and learn from them. Everyone starts with 0 followers. Make what you say interesting & relevant and talk to people who interest you, no matter if you have 0 followers or 1,000,000 followers.}

Manicure Monday: Magnetic Ink
![]() |
| {Base: Revlon Pure Pearl, Top: Nails Inc. Magnetic polish in Trafalgar Square, Tips: Revlon Facets of Fuchsia} |
This weekend I was so unfortunate to chip most of my nails, which made me file them down quite short. As a way to spruce up my unusually stubby nails - I decided to paint them with magnetic polish to give them a sort of "holographic" effect. I quite like how they turned out. The sparkles and darkness on the tips make them look sort of inky, and the magnetic effect gives them depth. A fun way to start my week, who doesnt love a little glitter and glitz?

This week has been alot of fun. Whether I was taking advantage of lipstick and nail polish sales, enjoying beverages with friends, or just enjoying the view at my desk - I enjoyed this week quite alot! Sometimes it isn't about how much you get done or how many goals you've met, the little things manage to carry us through with blazing colors. If you can focus on the little things that make you happy, the bigger picture is inevitable. So here's to another great week, and many more to come.. and may they all be captured in instagram.

|
As a continuation of my previous post here, I've decided to post more pictures showcasing the new shorts I got in the mail. Its a white lace crochet overload, and yet totally my style. Spur of the moment pairing, probably would not be seen in public wearing this, but we all have our fun dress-up moments. What can I say, I loves me some white lace! I am so excited to wear these shorts once the weather is warmer. They are so comfortable, and the detailing in the crochet is very dainty and delicate. Perfect spring/summer addition to my closet.

S/S 2012 Spotlight: Shoes
Although it is freezing cold outside right now in Toronto, I (along with many others) like planning ahead for upcoming seasons. Since most spring/summer lines are now for sale or pre-order, I've been flipping through pages and pages of drool-worthy new s/s pieces that I would love to get my hands on. Since shoes are my first love, I picked out a few that I would love to get my hands on (somehow..) for this upcoming spring/summer season.

4. Red Valentino Studded Lambskin Bow Sandal {$295 - Saks}
6. Prada Patent Leather Platform Sandal {$650 - Saks}
